Creating a Space to Grow by Gail Ryder Richardson
The ‘Space to Grow’ project was jointly developed by the Kent Early Years team and Learning through Landscapes.
The aims of the project were to
-
improve children’s access to outdoors,
-
improve the quality of their outdoor experiences,
-
increase the confidence of practitioners in using the outdoor environment.
Gail delivered the project over two years in 20 schools and settings across Kent. The process and outcomes of the project have been published as a book by David Fulton.
The book, ‘Creating a Space to Grow’, continues to be very popular with practitioners and in 2007 it won the the Practical Pre-school Silver Award for its contribution to improving outdoor practice.
